Do I have to be a member of a specific church to volunteer?
FAMA is a faith-based ministry rooted in the historic church, but volunteers come from multiple congregations and backgrounds. We ask that volunteers respect and align with our statement of faith and approach to ministry, which we share during orientation.
How much time do I need to commit?
We offer one-time events, short-term projects, and ongoing weekly and monthly roles. Many volunteers start with 2–4 hours a month and adjust as they get settled into a rhythm that works for their family, school, or work schedule.
Is there training or will I be expected to figure things out on my own?
You will never be left to serve alone. Every volunteer is connected to a team and a team leader. Orientation covers the basics, and each ministry area provides role-specific training, shadowing opportunities, and ongoing support.
Can I get credit for college or school volunteer hours?
Yes. We regularly work with students who need verified service hours. On your profile, indicate that you need documentation, and our team will help you track and confirm your hours.
What if I am not from Grant Park but live nearby?
You are welcome. Our focus is Grant Park and the surrounding neighborhoods, and we love when nearby residents choose to invest here. In your profile, share where you live so we can recommend roles that make sense for your commute and schedule.
